Finance in Bangalore
Day minus one
13.12.2007
It's Thursday evening. Today was tough - meetings all morning followed by a lunch date with Rosemary, a massage, another meeting to discuss Bangalore and then off to a hairdressing appointment. But now I am relaxing with a wine as I prepare for day minus one of my work life in NZ before I depart for India on Sunday evening.
I think I have it sussed - the agenda for tomorrow morning is to download emails and documents, pack up files and papers and courier them to the Bangalore office, have morning tea, and do the quiz. Come noon, the team swaps Secret Santa presents (ask Mark to show you his t-shirt, when you next see him) then we're off for an extended Christmas lunch with NBNZ Retail, Rural and Russell and Andreas. And so my current job as Finance Manager - NBNZ Retail Performance will finish. I wish Leong success with the role - he's had a pretty brief/ non existent hand-over and been dunked completely in it, but I am confident he'll do well and add to the team's performance.
I leave from Wellington on Sunday 16th at 9pm and arrive in Goa, via Auckland/ Singapore/ Mumbai, at 10.30pm Monday NZ time (3pm Indian time.) I plan to enjoy the sun, surf and seafood in Goa for a few weeks before heading to Bangalore and starting work on 9th January.
I am really looking forward to the holiday in Goa, but am really excited by the opportunities of working in the Bangalore office. I plan to update the blog each week to tell you all what's been happening over here as we recruit and train the team, but also to try to explain/ show what the office is like and what it is like as an ex-pat. And if you have any questions, feel free to email my work address - I'll be able to access them and respond from 9th Jan.
